NEW YORK SUPPORT GUIDELINES

New York child support starts with worksheet income.

New York's basic child support calculation uses each parent's worksheet income, the number of children, the combined parental income cap, and the non-custodial parent's pro rata share. Maintenance can change the income used for child support when it is part of the same calculation.

The active calculator on this site covers a limited New York post-divorce guideline scenario. It does not replace the court forms, determine legal custody, calculate every add-on, or decide whether a court will deviate from the guideline amount.

What belongs in the calculation

The state worksheet income definition matters. Gross salary, take-home pay, business revenue and bank deposits are not interchangeable. The court forms and instructions determine additions, deductions, maintenance adjustments, other obligations and the child-support percentage.

For a court-presentable packet, the calculator needs the facts that the state worksheet asks for, not only two headline income numbers. The national build plan therefore gives every state its own worksheet form model and export template.

Why some states are still in source review

Every state has its own guideline method, forms, caps, low-income handling, parenting-time treatment, add-ons and spousal-support rules. Publishing a dollar result before those sources are implemented would create exactly the discrepancy risk this product is meant to avoid.
