Montana requirements and review scope
- Montana CS-404 worksheets and current guideline allowance tables. Use Montana ARM 37.62 child support guidelines to determine the amounts counted for each party.
- Wages, dividends, interest, business earnings, and other countable income are added separately for each party. Enter each dollar once; do not repeat business profit as an owner distribution.
- General asset balances, loan balances, and household spending are not collected in this support-calculation workflow. Enter countable earnings from assets. A separate court financial affidavit may require additional disclosures.
- Business and rental deductions must be expenses allowed for support, which can differ from tax-return deductions. Do not deduct personal living expenses as business expenses.
- This worksheet needs state-permitted tax and other deductions. Enter the guideline tax deduction, not take-home pay or every deduction shown on a pay stub. Automatic tax preparation is not provided.
- Uses the February 2026 allowances and Worksheets A–E. Income must already reflect the deductions allowed by ARM 37.62.110; tax eligibility and income imputation are not decided by this calculator.
- Parenting days are Montana-defined 24-hour periods, not automatically overnight counts. Each child may have a different schedule.
- Child-care costs must be net of the dependent-care tax credit. Enter only qualifying unreimbursed medical expenses above $250 per child in the supplemental expense amount.
- Third-party custody, an increased personal allowance for legal dependents, and discretionary deviations require the official worksheet and individual review.
This calculator applies the published state guideline formula and has been tested against the official schedule and published examples. When a case needs a worksheet line listed above, the calculator stops and identifies that line instead of estimating it. Compare your result with the official sources linked here.
